Digital Brain Base Progress Update

For the last few months I have been talking to many different people about the concept that has become Digital Brain Base.

This included several developers who I worked with to explore the idea.

Of those developers I was the most impressed with Beck Bekmyradov owner of Mixsoft.ai.

I have contracted with him to be the lead developer for the Digital Brain Base code.

He has started developing the initial code base and working on the first use case.

That use case is keeping track of a food diary in a manner where the digital brain owner retains ownership off all the data in the food diary, instead of feeding it to a Big Tech digital brain.

Once completed we will be able to tell our digital brains what we have eaten and also take pictures of the nutrition label and have it automatically ingest the nutrition info.

When we do not take a picture of the label the AI will estimate the nutrition information. And then after inputting each item on our food diary it will give us an updated calorie count for the day so we can keep track of our calories.

We will also be able to ask the digital brain for updates on things such as how much protein and carbs we have consumed.

If you’ve ever tried to keep a food diary manually with calorie counts you know that it’s a tedious process. So hopefully our digital brains can make that process easier for us, and in a manner where we are retaining ownership over our data instead of feeding it to Big Tech.

We are working to have an initial concept to show the community in the next couple of weeks.

Once the initial concept is built for me. We will be adding the code to Git Hub where other developers can view it and offer feedback on how they would like to see it improved.

The code will also be freely available for anyone who would like to join us in building their own digital brain.

This is part 1 of our Digital Brain Base Master Plan.

Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks
Dave

Here is a summary of today’s call between Dave and Beck:

  1. Development Plans:
  • Automatic Scroll and Date Issues: These issues have been resolved.
  • Local Setup: The developer explained challenges in setting up the application locally and suggested using Docker containers to simplify this process.
  • Docker Containers: Discussed benefits and challenges of using Docker for deployment, which would make the application independent of the host operating system.
  • Start with Hosted Version: We agreed that V.1 will run locally but will require jumping through several hoops. For people that don’t want to do that we will make setting up on a web host that they control simple and straightforward. Once we have done that we will improve the ease of use of the locally hosted version.
  1. Primary Objective:
  • The main goal is to develop a version of the digital brain that works as well as ChatGPT for a food diary application, ensuring the client owns and controls the data.
  1. Functional Priorities:
  • Text Input: The first version will focus on text input for the food diary.
  • Image Input: The next priority is to allow image input to scan nutrition labels.
  • Voice Input and Output: Future iterations will include voice input and voice-to-voice interaction.
  1. Community and Feedback:
  • We want to get the first version launched as soon as possible so we can show it to the community and start taking feedback from users and developers to improve and add functionalities.
  1. Immediate Next Steps:
  • Beck will provide an updated version focusing on text input.
  • Dave will send conversation threads with ChatGPT to help fine-tune the system prompt.
  • Issues and feedback will be managed via Asana.
